A Pair of Arrests Following London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
Two more people have been arrested in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.
A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.
The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.
A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.
Police detained a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault near the scene. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.
Authorities were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.
The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
